Closing with Dallas Buyers Club, by Jean-Marc Vallée
Baja International Film Festival, Los Cabos 2013 will close its second edition with two stellar gala events and presenting international celebrities on the red carpet.
In the afternoon, at Cinemex Los Cabos, Mariana Chenillo (Nora’s will, 2008) will present her second feature film, Paradise, about an overweight couple who lives in Satélite in the State of Mexico.
Paradise made its world premiere at the last edition of the Toronto International Film Festival and it was recently presented at Morelia and San Sebastián Film Festivals. This time, BIFF 2013 is screening the film in a gala event presented by the director and the actors Andrés Almeida and Luis Gerardo Méndez.
Later at Pabellón Cultural de la República, the festival will close with the Mexican premiere of Dallas Buyers Club, by Jean-Marc Vallée. This film –starring Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner and Jared Leto– is about a man diagnosed as H.I.V.-positive who starts a battle with the pharmaceutical companies in USA by establishing a “buyers club,” where H.I.V.-positive people have access to the alternative treatments he has recently acquired after his search in Mexico.
Afterwards, during the Award Ceremony, BIFF 2013 will make public the Official Selection award winners, as well as the winners of the other BIFF’s special awards.
