The Asian Film Market 2017 finalized 18 official selections for the ‘Entertainment Intellectual Property Markets’ (E-IP Market) major events: 9 projects for ‘Book To Film’ and 9 projects for 'E-IP Pitching'. The E-IP Market is for contracting intellectual property rights suitable for all kinds of original IP rights. Rights dealt with in the E-IP Market include the E-IP rights of traditional contents (films, books, and performances) as well as the E-IP rights of original works published on digital media platforms (web comics, web dramas, web novels, and stories).
Project pitching for 18 selections will be held on Saturday, October 14 and a business meeting will be held Saturday, October 14 to Tuesday, October 17, 2017.

Book To Film:
Increase in projects with novel setting and engrossing storyline
- with continued strength in the thriller and mystery genre!
The 6th Book To Film event is a meeting place for publishers, directors, and producers who want to negotiate contracts for original property right of contents for film production. As the number of the Book To Film projects that were introduced over the past 5 years are now in the process of, or have made successful business deals, there has been increased attention to the Book To Film pitching event from both the publishing and film industries.
Like in previous years, thriller and mystery genre projects remain remarkable. The Untouchables (Gozknock ENT) by Lee Jung Yuen, which has an interesting theme about a war against crime in the Joseon Dynasty and Time Exiles (INDIEPAPER) by Lim Juyoung, a story with a distinct setting of time immigration, were well received from the selection committee. Sad Tropic (CABINET (All That Story)) by Haewon gained attention with its fresh story, depicting a North Korean special agent engaged in a drug cartel war in Colombia. And Conditions of Murder (Dasan Books Co., Ltd.) by Cho Wan-sun is praised as a masterpiece by intertwining a series of murder incidents with the political situations of Korea. Cho Ye-eun’s SHIFT (KYOBO BOOK CENTRE) displays a unique theme about the ability to transfer pain with a tense storyline. The Drama and Romance genres contain Fairyland (Human & Books) by Lim Jung yeon portrays a standard married life with a sense of contemporary time and The Book of Consolation (EunHaeng Namu Publishing Co.) by Park Young traces a woman and a man who start to change after coming across at a mummy exhibition. Seo Seong ran’s Sseu-eong (SANZINI) elaborates on the psychology of an immigrant woman who is victimized in both aspects of labor and sex. Ganghwado, the first novel by Professor Song Ho-keun, draws attention by centering on the Japan - Korea Treaty of 1876 with historic facts and evidence.

E-IP Pitching :
Great advance in web comics and web novels
with high possibilities of story development
E-IP Pitching is a place to introduce original content from web dramas, web novels, web comics and other stories adaptable across multiple media platforms to film, media and entertainment industry professionals. Due to the original setting and compelling storyline of the works previously selected, numerous contracts have been successfully negotiated and finalized. After intense and fierce competition, 9 projects were selected at this year’s E-IP Pitching.
The 3rd E-IP pitching this year was marked with a strong presence of web comics and web novels with brilliant themes and unpredictable plots, using flexible features from web platform. The 9 final selections are especially outstanding with their high potential for development into film, TV drama, mobile game and other multi-platforms. Madam Mystery (Wisdomhouse Mediagroup Inc.) by Lee Soo-A, was selected with unanimous consent from juries, and My Love Woongja (YJ Comics) by Yoon Mikyung, the writer of tvN drama Bride of The Water God, have raised expectation among juries by reinterpreting myths and legends into detective and romance genres. The Floating Man (PANORAMA Ent, Inc.) by Lee Bongsoo also stood out with its novel background and excellent storytelling method in each episode that illustrate a submerged world that emerges when the man wakes up. Daughter of the Emperor (D&C MEDIA) by RINO, currently published in China, Japan, North America and East Asia, has also been acclaimed for its possibilities to develop into game.
