The identity of the 11th Odesa International Film Festival, which will take place online for the first time this year, was developed by the creative agency BBDO Ukraine, a subsidiary of one the biggest agencies worldwide.
Odesa International Film Festival presents its new brand identity, developed by the creative agency BBDO Ukraine. The agency is also working on an advertising campaign for this year's festival edition.
Due to the pandemic related restrictions, the 11th OIFF will take place online for the first time in its history. Despite the new form of holding, the Odesa International Film Festival offers cinema primarily to the audience that watches and really sees it.
“The new identity of the Odesa International Film Festival combines all those metamorphoses we faced this year. The 11th OIFF may have taken a different form, but its essence remains the same. We still strive to show high quality cinema, evoke emotions from the audience and encourage reflection. And this was recreated in the new identity, created by BBDO Ukraine. They referred to the circle as a visual code that symbolizes the beginning of everything, including cinema”, Julia Sinkevych, general producer of the Odesa International Film Festival, said.
The new identity of the Odesa International Film Festival embodied the idea of the cinema and its existence for the audience that perceives story through its projection on the screen. It organically absorbed the elements of cinema, because every detail is connected with the art of visual storytelling. The typography has the effect of chromatic aberration, which was also embodied in the selected colors of the corporate identity. Each color can be found in the process of dispersion of light or its incorrect refraction.
“Our visual theme has a story at its center. The same story that lives in a film projector and tries to escape as a beam of light, go through a lens, illuminate a rectangular screen and give emotions to the audience. Circle became a key element of the visual design code. This form serves as a portal between the visual and the emotional. It's the starting point of any story, because that's where the projector begins its visualization. Millions of worlds and characters live in this circle. There is a window there where you can escape from reality for a few hours", Maria Teterin, Head of BBDO Branding, comments.
BBDO Ukraine Creative Agency, founded in 2008, works with the biggest global companies and local leaders. Among the clients of the agency are Mars, Pepsi, Visa, Toyota, Metinvest, Kovalska, AB InBev Efes Ukraine, etc., and now the Odesa International Film Festival.
The 11th Odesa International Film Festival will take place online 25 September - 3 October 2020.
