SFFILM Announces Date and Format for 2020 SFFILM Awards Night Celebration

SFFILM Awards Night’s prestigious awards include the Irving M. Levin Award for Film Direction, the SFFILM Award for Acting (formerly the Peter J. Owens Award for Acting), and the Kanbar Award for Storytelling. SFFILM honorees throughout the years have included Amy Adams, Robert Altman, Kathryn Bigelow, Ellen Burstyn, Chinonye Chukwu, Francis Ford Coppola, Adam Driver, Guillermo del Toro, Harrison Ford, Emily V. Gordon & Kumail Nanjiani, Marielle Heller, Abbas Kiarostami, Spike Lee, Richard Linklater, Steve M^cQueen, Mira Nair, Winona Ryder, Lulu Wang, Robin Williams, and Kate Winslet, among many others.

One of San Francisco’s most highly anticipated annual film events and social circuit gatherings, SFFILM Awards Night leverages the Bay Area’s increasing awards season relevance and amplifies the region’s voice in the end-of-year film conversation. The program recognizes the storied careers of some of the best and brightest in contemporary cinema with special onstage tributes and celebrity presenters.

The 2020 SFFILM Awards Night honorees will be announced in the coming months, along with additional details regarding the evening’s online program. SFFILM Awards Night supports the organization’s year-round work to discover and nurture the next generation of film artists, not only through the SFFILM Festival and other screenings and events, but also through its SFFILM Education and SFFILM Makers initiatives.
