Catalina Film Festival will honor actor Martin Kove with a Career Tribute Award on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 6:30pm PST at the 10th Anniversary celebration and Carpool Cinema event, featuring the World's first film festival, drive-thru red-carpet at the Scottish Rite Event Center in Long Beach, CA. Award ceremony will also stream live on Catalina Film Facebook page.
Kove is best known for his portrayal as the evil karate sensei, John Kreese, in The Karate Kid trilogy and reprised his role in the hit Netflix series, Cobra Kai. With over 100 films under his belt, most notable credits include Rambo II, opposite Sylvester Stallone; six seasons on Emmy-Award winning crime drama: Cagney and Lacey; westerns such as Hard Ground with Burt Reynolds; plus guest-starring roles in The Goldbergs, Criminal Minds, and recently shared the screen with Leonardo DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Tarantino, a long-time fan of Kove, hand selected the veteran to appear in the film.
Kove also stars in The Roommates alongside Barry Bostwick and Bruce Davison, written and directed by Cameron Penn, screening Saturday night as part of the LA Social Club shorts block, right before the beloved 80s classic and FREE bonus film, The Breakfast Club.
