We are sorry to hear the passing in his sleep of Sean Connery in his bahamian retreat. He was 90
Sean Connery was the first actor ever to play Bond, James Bond, a role he took 7 times.
I met him in Paradise Island in 2007 when he received a career award from Leslie Vanderpoole festival founder.
Our film critic Alex Deleon put out an eloquent message which I am happy to reproduce here
"Don't stir my Martini, Just shake it a little"
Sean Connery, 1930 - 2020 a Fond Farewell
By Alex Deleon
Some actors never die, they just pass away to a higher realm.
The ultimate incarnation of James Bond, double 0'Seven, has cashed in his chips here down below, but in cinema heaven he will reign forever as the coolest of the cool with a License to Kill, but only bad guys, which he did flawlessly in half a dozen of the best romantic action films ever made.
Several other actors have tried to fill his unfillable boots but not one of them could utter the line "The name is Bond, James Bond, and I work on her Majesty's Service"... with such utter conviction. The ultimate combination of cool, calm, and collected killer and irresistible romantic lover, Sean's Bond gave new meaning to Swashbucklery and the administration of justice utilizing cutting edge technologIes and cars that could do everything but fly.
And all, with the coolest Scottish accent!
Have a good trip to heaven Sean, and don't let 'em stir the Martinis up there.
