Marianna Vargas Gurilieva joins as the Film Commissioner of the Dominican Film Commission (DGCINE), a position dedicated to developing and promoting the Dominican film industry. Vargas is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) with a law degree. Afterward, she obtained a Master of Law in Corporate, Business, and Maritime Law, specializing in Transactions of Business at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Recently, she completed a master's degree in Legal Strategy from the OMG Institute of Santo Domingo. During her time at OMG, she acted as a Senior Director of the Business Department until her appointment in February 2021 as Film Commissioner of the DGCINE by President Luis Abinader. Prior to this, Vargas worked as Director of Business and Legal Affairs for Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios. There she worked as an advisor for the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and the production team in international and national productions directed by the studio. She served as a representative of the Cinematographic Studies before the Intersectoral Commission for promoting Cinematographic Activity in the Dominican Republic (CIPAC). Marianna collaborated in the preparation, revision, and modification of Law No. 108-10 to promote Cinematographic Activity in the Dominican Republic and its applicable regulations. She has extensive knowledge and well-established background in Corporate and Commercial Law, specializing in legal planning and entertainment. In addition to this, she has made several related publications on digital and printed media. Apart from Spanish, she is fluent in English and Russian and has extensive French knowledge. | ||||||
