Arpa congratulates Emmy winning and academy award-nominated documentarian, filmmaker, and recipient of Arpa’s Career Achievement in Directing, Joe Berlinger, on his nomination of Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel and Murder Among the Mormons as Executive Producer. Both shows have been nominated for "Best Streaming Docuseries, Documentary Television Movie, or Non-Fiction Series" for the inaugural Hollywood Critics Association Television Awards.
Mr. Berlinger’s popularity in film festivals, theatres, television, and most notably Netflix where his “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile” starring Zac Efron, Lily Collins, Arpa award winner Angela Sarafyan and Ara Keshishian, producer, was the most-watched film in 2019.
In Mr. Berlinger’s words: “You have to remain open to the situation that you are filming otherwise you might miss the story."
Arpa congratulates longtime Arpa advisor and juror Ara Keshishian (Founder and CEO ZQ Entertainment and Development Production Company) on his upcoming projects as producer and executive producer on ‘Calico Joe,' based on a baseball-themed novel by John Grisham with George Clooney, as director and writer, alongside Bob Dylan’s production company.
Mr. Keshisian’s newly launched multi-million dollar development company will also include Black Cotton Star, a Graphic Novel which will be directed by Reginald Hudlin.
In the words of Mr. Keshisian, former CAA agent for A-listers: “In this climate, with the ever-evolving distribution landscape and different ways to reach audiences, we feel this is the perfect time to focus on development with the best storytellers” (Source: Variety.com)
