FEST's 2021 Industry Program closes with a truly remarkable line-up of activities and speakers, ranging from industry veterans like Irvine Welsh, to PRO masterclasses regarding important contemporary topics, such as Virtual Production Technologies, and Mental Health in the cinema industry.
The Industry Program will take place between the 5th and the 10th of October — last chance to get your festival pass.
Sound engineer Eddy Joseph will kick off the program, with a masterclass focused on specific case-studies, analyzing their soundtracks, how they serve different genres and how to operate with various budget sizes. The second day will be dedicated to "Acting and the Director/Actor Relationship", with Emmy-nominated casting director Nancy Bishop, talent agent Caprice Crawford, intimacy co-ordinator Joshua Okpala, and actor/producer Chris Simon leading masterclasses with a special focus on intimate scenes and how to coordinate them on film.
Virtual Production is another highlight of the Industry Program — the new technology behind grandiose productions such as Star Wars’ The Mandalorian will be explored and analysed throughout four distinct masterclasses, spearheaded by Epic Games’ Producer Nancy Xu, Glassbox Technologies' Johannes Wilkes, and visual artist Evgeny Kalachikhin. They have worked on productions such as Netflix’s Away, Disney's The Jungle Book and many others.
Green consultant Dörte Schneider will host a masterclass dedicated to sustainability in the film industry, during all stages of production; specifically on how to use resources in a more efficient and conscient way to bring both environmental and financial savings.
Finally, FEST’s 2021 Industry Program will close with absolute legends Tony Grisoni and Irvine Welsh, who will each share their views on their respective creative processes, covering screenwriting topics such book-to-screen adaptations, original screenplays, and how they worked with different directors throughout their long and important careers.
There’s even more to find out during FEST: the presence of catalan director Isabel Coixet brings both an exclusive masterclass and film retrospective of her work, as well as the Industry Meetings, which provide an unparalleled platform for one-on-one meetings between attending industry professionals and the festival’s accredited participants.
