KATH SHELPER OPENS THE TRAVELLING FILM FESTIVAL GRAFTON
The Darkside opens the Travelling Film Festival at Grafton’s Saraton Theatrefrom March 27-30, 2014
Producer of The Darkside, Kath Shelper will open the Travelling Film Festival in Grafton, introducing the Opening Night film and taking part in a Q&A! Kath Shelper has produced numerous Australian films, television and documentaries but is best known for The Turning, Here I Am and her first feature film, Samson and Delilah, which won the Camera d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2009.
The Darkside, another collaboration with director Warwick Thornton, made its international premiere in February at the Berlin International Film Festival and brings true Australian ghost stories to life with the help of some of the nation’s most iconic acting talent including Deborah Mailman, Claudia Karvan and Aaron Pedersen.
Warwick Thornton has created the concept The Otherside Project; an archive of Indigenous ghost stories that celebrate Indigenous spirituality and storytelling. He hopes that the stories shared on the website will be an inspiration for other artists just as he was inspired to make The Darkside.
The Otherside Project and the Travelling Film Festival would like to invite you to share your ghost stories during the festival. If you have an Indigenous content ghost story you'd like to share you can record or upload your story direct to The Otherside Project, or come to Grafton’s Saraton Theatre during the screening of The Darkside and we will record your story for you. A small recording space will be set up in the foyer from 6pm-10pm on Thursday 27 March.
The Darkside is screening on Thursday 27 March at 7pm followed by our Opening Night after-party at Saraton Theatre, 99 Prince Street Grafton NSW 2460
