6 original scores commissioned for ciné-concerts for the 50th anniversary of Fema

For its 50th anniversary, Fema has commissioned 6 original scores for ciné-concerts:

— For three city symphonies, visual scores describing human activity in three European capitals (Berlin, Lisbon, Paris)

People on Sunday by Robert Siodmak and Edgar G. Ulmer, a composition by Domenique Dumont where modular synthesizers and melancholy guitars intertwine in exotic, timeless patterns.

At 3:25 by René Clair, a composition by Jacques Cambra (piano) and Victor Clay (vibraphone, percussion), in collaboration with Arras Film Festival.

Jacques Cambra will also accompany Lisboa, Crónica anecdótica, another city symphony, as well as Maria of the Sea, two films by the Portuguese filmmaker José Leitão de Barros,

— For the sensual and subtly transgressive Erotikon by Gustav Machatý, a composition by Florencia Di Concilio, a skillful dialog between acoustic piano and sequences of electronic music. 

— For a program of 10 shorts by Emile Cohl, a composition for two guitars by Xavier Courtet and Julien Coulon based on compositions by Erik Satie

For its 10 years of collaboration with Fema, La Rochelle Music Conservatory offers a retrospective of its ciné-concert workshops, with the students of and conducted by Sabrina Rivière.

Serge Bromberg returns to Fema to celebrate 30 years of the unmissable ciné-spectacle Retour de Flamme, with a thrilling voyage to the land of pioneering women filmmakers, entitled Femmes, femmes, femmes.

SCREENING AND CONCERT AT LA SIRÈNE

L'Energie positive des dieux by Laetitia Møller captures the creative process of a rock group: Astéréotypie. A group like any other—and yet not.

The documentary will be followed by a concert by the Astéréotypie collective, whose delightful 3rd album, Aucun mec ne ressemble à Brad Pitt dans la Drôme (In the Drôme, Guys Don't Look Like Brad Pitt) is a perfect prelude to a day and a night with Brad Pitt on Saturday.
