Hollywood rarely gets it right…

According to award-winning broadcaster and advertising virtuoso, Terry O’Reilly, most films with an advertising theme are clearly written by people who have never spent a day in the advertising industry. The truth of the advertising business is it’s in the business of staying invisible and Hollywood has long taken great license with those depictions, bending them at will to generate expedient humour or convenient drama.

In keeping with the theme of advertising in the movies, the Victoria Film Festival is delighted to bring Terry O’Reilly to The Vic Theatre April 26th and 27th for a limited engagement. Whether you are an ad-man/woman or just fascinated with the nuances of advertising, the VFF invites you to take advantage of this special event exploring the ad realm on the big screen and its actuality in the real world. Treat yourself to an informative night with a passionate and entertaining presenter, versed in the power of big ideas, strong identities, dynamic campaigns and exceptional strategic insights.

For one day only, April 26th, VFF will host an intimate reception with O’Reilly at the Fairmont Empress. Space is limited to 40 guests. Additionally, two presentations are scheduled for 7:00pm on April 26th and 27th at The Vic Theatre. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit www.thevic.ca or call 250-389-0444.

“While I've rolled my eyes at most of the depictions of the advertising business, I have to admit, I've also enjoyed a lot of them too.” ~ Terry O’Reilly
