TorinoFilmLab Meeting Event: Turin, 24-26 November 2014
THE WINNERS
Wednesday, 26th November – the 2014 edition of TorinoFilmLab was officially closed with the 7th TorinoFilmLab Meeting Event: a three-day event which was a public presentation of the projects developed in the TFL programmes during the year, a market for international co-productions and a chance to reward the best projects with production grants and prizes.
This year’s edition feature the new TFL Distribution Award, aimed at supporting innovative audience development strategies at the moment of distribution, and the The Digital Production Challenge II Award, granted by Focal Resource.
The 7th TorinoFilmLab Meeting Event, which took place on November 24-26 within the Torino Film Festival, brought together hundreds of industry professionals, including 200 Decision Makers from all over the world.
Within the FrameWork Programme, 9 projects seeking co-production agreements were presented.
The international Jury, chaired by Alberto Barbera, Director of Turin’s Museo Nazionale del Cinema and of Venice Film Festival, and comprised of Álvaro Brechner (Uruguay), writer/director, producer and TFL Alumnus (Mr. Kaplan, BFI London Film Festival, Laugh 2014); Doreen Boonekamp (Netherlands), CEO of the Netherlands Film Fund; Marta Donzelli (Italy), producer (Imatra by Corso Salani, Locarno, Cineasti del Presente 2010; Via Castellana Bandiera by Emma Dante, Venice 2013); Sophie Mas (France), producer (Frances Ha by Noah Baumbach), has decided to award 3Production Awards (amounting to a total of € 160.000):
Popeye by Kirsten Tan (Singapore/Thailand) – € 60.000
Hunting Season by Natalia Garagiola (Argentina) – € 50.000
The Wound by John Trengove (South Africa) – € 50.000
The following prizes were also awarded:
Audience Award
Voted among the FrameWork projects by all the Decision Makers attending the TFL Meeting Event, the Audience Award of € 30.000 went to:
Kodokushi by Janus Victoria (Philippines/Japan)
TFL Distribution Award (€ 43.000) – aimed at supporting innovative audience development strategies at the moment of distribution, went to:
Eilon Ratzkovsky for July August Production, producer of Mountain by Yaelle Kayam (Israel)
The ARTE International Prize
Assigned by ARTE France Cinéma to one of the Script&Pitch projects, the ARTE International Prize of € 6.000 went to:

The prize assigned to a FrameWork project, which allows the producer to participate in a workshop on post-production, went to:

Les Arcs Coproduction Village Prize
The Script&Pitch, AdaptLab and FrameWork projects were eligible for the Les Arcs Coproduction Village Prize, consisting in the automatic selection at the Arc 1950 Coproduction Village. The Les Arcs Coproduction Village Prize went to:
The Voice by György Pàlfi and Gergo Nagy (Hungary) – Script&Pitch
The Digital Production Challenge II Award
The award, consisting in the participation in the DPC II Workshop, is granted by Focal Resource and went to the Script&Pitch project:
A Backwards Journey by Pietro Marcello and Alfredo Covelli (Italy)
Founded with the intention of complementing Torino Film Festival with a laboratory dedicated to emerging talents, TorinoFilmLab is an international creative community supporting young filmmakers from all over the world through training, development, funding and distribution activities. The main focus is on first and second feature films.
Created in 2008 thanks to the support of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Piedmont Region and the City of Turin, TFL is promoted by Museo Nazionale del Cinema and Film Commission Torino Piemonte. Many of the scheme’s activities are backed by the MEDIA and MEDIA Mundus Programmes of the European Union.
