The complete programme as well as the films in competition, jury members and events highlights of the 9th edition of CinEast (Central and Eastern European Film Festival in Luxembourg, 6-23 October 2016) were announced at the festival’s press conference yesterday (photos), and have been published today on the festival’s website www.cineast.lu. The 8 films in theofficial competition of CinEast 2016 are: 11 Minutes by Jerzy Skolimowski, Dogs by Bogdan Mirică, Hristo by Todor Matsanov & Grigor Lefterov, Kills On Wheels by Attila Till, Mellow Mud by Renars Vimba, On The Other Side by Zrinko Ogresta, Quit Staring At My Plate by Hana Jušić, The Illegitimate by Adrian Sitaru.
The International Jury, which will award the Grand Prix and the Special Jury Prize, is composed of: Mirjana Karanović (actress and film director, Serbia), Nico Simon (president of Europa Cinemas, Luxembourg), Pol Cruchten (film director, Luxembourg) and Dolya Gavanski (actress and film director, UK). The fifth member of the jury is yet to be confirmed. The Press Jury, awarding the Critics’ Prize, is composed of Luxembourgish journalists Isabelle Debuchy, Karolina Markiewicz and Jean-Pierre Thilges. The Awards Ceremony will be held on 21 October.
The CinEast 2016 festival will be held in a dozen venues across Luxembourg and will present 62 features and more than 40 short films from 18 CEE countries, over 20 guests, 5 concerts (including two live soundtracks), 2 DJ events, a large photography exhibition (“Away From Home”), 3 debates, screenings for children, a miniretrospective of Andrzej Wajda, and more.
Among the confirmed special guests attending CinEast 2016: Andrzej Seweryn (Polish actor), Ulrich Matthes (German actor), Emília Vášáryová (Slovak actress), Mirjana Karanović (Serbian actress and director), Tatiana Vilhelmová (Czech actress), Damjan Kozole (Slovenian director), Jerzy Radziwiłowicz (Polish actor), and others.
